SCAD Pro X RedKulture

Nov 2, 2024

This project was a collaboration effort between Red Kulture & selected SCAD students. As a group, the 10 of us were tasked with creating a proof of concept video game design. We were given the script and overall concept of the characters this game was to be based off of. Following the initial meeting with Blac Elvis and Red Kulture our team began designing the overall aesthetic of Neo York, our cyberpunk futuristic take on New York and Central Park. My tasks throughout this collaboration included research into Unreal Engine's Verse programming language, designing and creating Central Park, designing and creating the moving walls puzzle/challenge, and game testing different elements of the game. This collaboration allowed me to not only learn Unreal Engine for Fortnite, which had just come out a couple weeks prior to the ideation process, but also engaging in a more professional collaboration between a company and students/artists alike. In all, this project gave me the opportunity to work with many amazing artists to create this working and playable game concept. Working on a small but mighty team encouraged me to understand how others problem solved and collaborate with many parts of the production pipeline. Going into this collaboration I previously only knew 1 other member of this team and while designing this game, I was able to connect and grow with some incredibly talented artists.
